ESnet's national Energy Research customers have the need to collaborate with colleagues located around the globe. This global research requirement presented a challenge to the ESnet charter. As innovators in network design, our engineering staff implemented a virtual international backbone which provides the best network connections available to our global colleagues. This innovate design is an elegant solution which is not outside the scope and mission statement of the Energy Sciences Network.
