HEP Case Study: DUNE and the Data of Neutrinos

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will study neutrino oscillations and supernova events starting in 2029, transferring up to 600TB of data in 100 seconds across 800 miles from South Dakota to Illinois via ESnet6. The experiment requires triple-redundant network connectivity, with an estimated 900PB of data expected to traverse the network over its 20-year lifespan.  Read More

HEP Case Study: The Rubin Observatory and the Images Sent Around the World

The Vera C. Rubin Observatory captures 20 terabytes of astronomical data nightly with the world's largest digital camera, transferring images 12,000 miles from Chile to California in under 7 seconds for real-time analysis. This international network collaboration involving ESnet, AmLight, and multiple research networks will deliver 500 petabytes of data over 10 years.  Read More
