ESnet Site Coordinators Committee (ESCC) August 2025 Meeting

Overview

ESnet Site Coordinators are invited to join us for the second ESnet Site Coordinators Committee (ESCC) Meeting in 2025, to be held August 12-14. 

ESnet Site Coordinators and ESnet staff meet twice a year for a technical forum to establish community practices that guide the smooth operation of ESnet and our collaboration with site partners. 

Note: As of 2025, the general ESCC meeting schedule has changed. A one-day meeting each year will be co-located with Confab in the Spring. A multi-day meeting in August replaces what was previously referred to as the Fall Meeting.

Why Attend?

• Get the latest ASCR and IRI updates from the ASCR Facilities Division
• Share and hear site reports from around the ESCC
• Discuss IPv6 transition progress and plans
• Get updates on ESnet operations and engineering
• Provide input to ESnet to inform planning to meet future Site needs 

Who is the ESCC Meeting for?

Meeting participation is limited to ESnet Site Coordinators (and/or their designees), ESnet Staff, affiliated DOE personnel, and invited guests. For questions, contact Cian Dawson, ESnet User & Outreach Lead (cbdawson@es.net).

Registration: Meeting registration is open!

Registration Deadline: Friday, August 1, 2025, at 3:00PM Eastern

Registration Fee: There is no fee to attend. However, we ask that registrants only sign up if you genuinely intend to participate, and to let us know if you need to cancel or modify your registration.

Site Reports

All Site Coordinators are invited and encouraged to present a 10-minute site report to share your site's activities, lessons learned, and plans with the ESCC Community. Sign up for give a site report when you register for the meeting. A template of recommended report content will be provided in advance.

Meeting Technical Details

The August 2025 ESCC Meeting will be online only. This will be an interactive meeting to provide all attendees a chance to engage with presenters and with each other through open Q&A, large-group discussions, chat, polling, small breakout discussions, and more. We invite you try to treat this similarly to if you were in-person by setting aside time to focus on the meeting so that you can have a more rewarding and enjoyable meeting experience.

Video Conferencing

We will use Zoom for the meeting video conferencing. All registrants will receive a calendar invitation with the meeting link.

For the best virtual meeting experience we recommend:

• Connecting to Zoom via computer/laptop, rather than a mobile device so that you have a clear view of the shared materials and easy access to the tools we'll use during the meeting.
• Using the latest Zoom software.
  • Check that you have the latest Zoom software version installed (In Zoom desktop app, look under Zoom Workplace > Check for updates).
  • If you don't have Zoom already installed, you can download from https://zoom.us/download or speak to your organization about Zoom software approved for your use.
  • You can also access Zoom via a standard web browser if you cannot install the software directly.
• A working microphone and speakers with good sound, so that you can participate in discussion.
• A working webcam is encouraged.
• Attendees will be asked to update their display name to show your name and affiliation. 
• Attendees do NOT needed Zoom accounts.

Polls and Q&A

We plan to use a tool called slido during the meeting for polling and questions.

• Slido can be accessed via web browser at https://www.slido.com/ or a free app for your phone/tablet.
• Attendees do NOT needed slido accounts.
