Brooklin Gore
Computer Systems Engineer

I'm working with the infrastructure team and across ESnet to to implement a dual coast data center model, ensure our infrastructure is secure, reliable and increasingly managed through automation and align our processes and procedures to IT Service Management best practice.

How I got here

After spending a wonderful 2.5 years in Madison, WI my wife and I felt that we needed to be closer to family and lifelong friends. So, after a brief job search we were blessed to be offered the position with ESNet at Lawrence Berkeley Labs in June, 2013. While in Madison, I held several roles:

  • As the Chief Operations Officer for the Software Assurance Marketplace, I helped build a research computing facility to promote the development of better software assurance tools. The facility is available at no cost to open source software developers and enables continuous software assurance to be easily integrated with existing SW development processes.
  • As a Senior Researcher for the Morgridge Institute for Research, I helped researchers in the building and across the UW-Madison campus accelerate their scientific discovery by leveraging a large collection of computing resources in our building, across campus and nationally through the Open Science Grid. I also helped write and manage federal grants that provided funding for our research computing initiatives.
  • As an Honorary Fellow for the UW-Madison Computer Science Department I managed the daily operations of the Center for High Throughput Computing, the Condor Project and the Build and Test Lab.
  • I also provided project management for the Open Science Grid's Campus Infrastructures project and Edgar Spalding's NSF grant forDetermining the Cyberinfrastructure Needs for Efficient Phenomics Research.

Fun stuff

My wife Suzanne and I are very exited to be living in the East Bay. We have relatives here and have visited many times for work and pleasure but never seemed to have enough time to fully explore all that California has to offer. Like skiing, hiking the Sieras camping in Yosemite and sea kyaking the many bays and inlets, not to mention endless frolics on the beach with our little Yorky Fresco. And then there's all the great food, theater and music in the area. Golf, biking or bocci anyone? Before moving to Berkeley via Madison, we lived in Boise, Idaho for over 30 years, growing up two wonderful kids, our daughter Logan and son Jordan, among many other events and activities with our friends and family.
