Se-young's primary focus is on researching and developing new technologies and services that enable the ESnet community to effectively utilize testbeds and prototype infrastructures. He also collaborates closely with team members to design and implement services that support a broad range of scientific communities.
He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Auckland. His research interests include quantum networking testbeds, high-performance data movement, virtualization, AI data pipelines, and programmable data planes. During his doctoral studies, he conducted performance evaluations of high-speed data transfer protocols, including GridFTP and FDT. As a postdoctoral researcher at Sorbonne University (formerly University of Paris 6), he worked on mobile computation offloading for Android platforms. He later contributed to the development of DTN-as-a-Service orchestration and the integration of P4-programmable networking with Data Transfer Nodes (DTNs) at Northwestern University.
